Dr. Yiannis Laouris
 

Dr. Laouris is a Senior Scientist and President of CNTI. Heads the New Media Lab and the Neuroscience Lab. He is a Neuroscientist (MD, PhD) and Systems engineer (MS) trained in Germany and the US. Publishes research in neuroscience, in the fields of learning through computers, the web and mobile phones and about the potential role of IT to bridge the gaps (economic, gender, disabilities etc.) in our society. Participates in Cost219: Accessibility for All; Cost298: Participation in the Broadband Society!; Cost276: Knowledge Management; and Cost2102: Cross-Modal Analysis of Verbal and Non-verbal Communication. Laouris was a co-founder of a chain of computer learning centers for children (www.cyber-kids.com). He represents the Lab in EUKidsonline and heads relevant research. He is the Executive Director for the CyberEthics project.

Mrs. Georgina Shitta


Mrs. Shitta has been with CNTI since February 2008 as an Assistant Coordinator of the Safer Internet Awareness Node and as an Office Manager for the Organisation. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. She also has a degree in Secretarial Studies from Frederick Institute of Technology, in Cyprus. She began her career in various working environments as an Office Manager while continuing her education in psychology. She has been the Project Coordinator for the Safer Internet Awareness Node in Cyprus since March 2008 and has also contributed to the promotion of the Hotline and the setting up of the Safer Internet Helpline.

 

Ms. Aysu Arsoy


Mrs. Arsoy holds a double major degree in Computer Science and educational technologies and a PhD in Visual Communication Arts from the Eastern Mediterranean University. She is Project Coordinator for North Cyprus and charge of activities that take place in the northern part of the island and is also member of the research team.

Ms. Elena Aristodemou


 

Ms. Aristodemou has a BSc in Psychology from Monash University Australia and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods (pending defence) from the Open University of UK. She has a special interest in the field of education, learning disabilities and cognitive processes. Aristodemou is coordinating many scientific projects of the New Media Lab and especially research related to childrenand new media.

Ms. Tatjana Taraszow


Ms. Taraszow has a Masters degree in psychology with emphases on media,educational, and organizational psychology as well as political science as an elective subject from the University of Tuebingen in Germany. Mrs. Taraszow is in charge of many research activities of the CyberEthics project. She is also a trained mediator and SDDP Facilitator.

Mr. Lawrence Kalogreades

Lawrence Kalogreades holds an honours B.A. in psychology from San DiegoStateUniversity (San Diego, USA) and an M.Sc in clinical psychology from SwanseaUniversity (Swansea, UK). His prior research experiences involved the study of the neuropsychological foundations of personality and learning, the variables affecting subjective health-related quality of life, and age-related differences in learning and memory between young adults and elderly participants. He is also interested in the study of biological approaches to the study of consciousness. His prior clinical experience involved working in a variety of settings with adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenia, personality disorders, affective disorders and learning disabilities.

Lawrence is the coordinator of the Cyprus Safer Internet Helpline (www.helpline.cyberethics.info), coordinator of the International School of Structured Dialogic Design (http://sddinternationalschool.wikispaces.com/), and also leads the CNTI Neuroscience Laboratory. He is currently working on the creation and dissemination of multi-media material promoting Internet safety and is also running experimental trials in order to investigate if there are significant differences between experienced and inexperienced players of violent video-games by investigating psycho-physiological markers of stress during play.

Ms. Anna-Maria Drousiotou


Ms. Drousiotou has been with CNTI since March 2007 as project coordinator of the Safer Internet Awareness Node. She has a degree in Economics from the Aristotelian University of Thessalonica, Greece. She began her career at AGB Nielson Media Research analyzing and training TV audience ratings data and software to media planners from nearly all the Cypriot Advertising Agencies. She then moved on to work in several Advertising Agencies for the past 10 years as a media strategist and media planner working on accounts such as Coca-Cola,NIKE, AMEX, Honda, Nestle, Louis Vuitton, Haagen-Dazs, Frou-Frou Group of companies and others. She has also contributed to the Hotline.

Mr. Nikolas Kasparis


Mr. Kasparis has been with the New Media Lab since November 2007. Kasparis has received his Bachelor degree in Mathematics from the University of Cyprus (Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences,Department of Mathematics and Statistics),and an MS in Computational Intelligence from De Montfort University (Faculty of Computing Sciences and Engineering, School of Computing) in UK. He works as the Technical Director and also holds the post of the Hotline Coordinator.

Ms. Elia Petridou

Ms. Petridou has received her Bachelor of Arts degree in New Jersey City University with a double major in Economics and Political Science, and a Masters in International Relations from McGill University. Previously she served as coordinator for the Media Literacy and the EU Citizenship projects. She was in charge of the Hotline until November 2007 and contributed to the Awareness Node from many posts. Ms. Petridou is also a trained facilitator for the Structured Dialogic Design Process.
