The Cyberethics team, a project funded by the European Union and implemented by Future Worlds Center (leg. Reg. Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute) in partnership with CYTA, the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, the Olive Branch Foundation and the Pancyprian Coordinating Committee for the Protection and Welfare of Children, organizes events all around the island to promote Safer Internet Day and to raise awareness about the issue of “safe internet use” during the week of February 9^th which is the Safer Internet Day. These events are planned to be organized in collaboration with schools, teachers, and with Internet providers.

The slogan of this year’s Safer Internet Day is “Think before you Post”.  It expresses the focus and the aim of the Cyprus Safer Internet Center – Cyberethics, that is awareness raising of parents, educators and children.

The CyberEthics project works on raising awareness of parents, educators and children on issues concerning Internet safety, ethical use of mobile phones and new online technologies in general. Priority issues include child pornography, racism, gender discrimination, giving out personal information and inappropriate use of people’s images either on mobile phones or the web. Also, the project provides the means to report inappropriate content online through its Hotline and provide psychological support through its Helpline.
